The Pattambi Youth Summit 2024 marked a turning point in Kerala's youth engagement and education reform, highlighting mental health as the most pressing concern among adolescents—cited by 69% of delegates as a barrier to academic, emotional, social, and career development. Delegates called for urgent school-based mental health interventions, while the summit also revealed a significant gap in mental health literacy among teachers and parents. Supported by institutions like SCOLE Kerala, KILA, RARS, ASAP, and others, the summit's outcomes led to the launch of ManasaMitra—a community-informed, evidence-based programme shaped by the vision of Dr. P. Krishna Kumar, ensuring no child is left behind due to silence, stigma, or lack of support.

About ManasaMitra

ManasaMitra : Reimagining Education Through Mental Wellness

In the 21st century, education is no longer confined to cognitive development— it must equally nurture emotional resilience, mental well-being, and sociopsychological adaptability. The ManasaMitra Programme is set to be launched in the Pattambi Legislative Constituency of Kerala as an initiative of Shri Muhammed Muhassin, the Hon'ble MLA of Pattambi Legislative Assembly. The ManasaMitra Programme, a visionary initiative going to be launched in Pattambi, Kerala, India, is designed in response to this urgent global imperative. Rooted in scientific research, regional need assessments, and international mental health policy frameworks, it serves as a comprehensive mental health and psychosocial support system within the educational environment.

The programme's core objectives

For Teachers: First Responders and Change Catalysts

Teachers are the first to see, and the first who can act.” ManasaMitra recognizes this frontline role by transforming educators into skilled mental health advocates within their classrooms.

For Students: From Vulnerability to Strength

A resilient student is not just a better learner—they are a better citizen, friend, and future leader.

For Parents: Partners in Emotional Development

The home is the first school of mental health. When parents are equipped, children are protected.

"Real progress happens when governance touches heartswhere education inspires, health uplifts, and communities rise with knowledge, compassion, and collective strength."
